The College of Education and Professional Studies uses an all hours attempted model to calculate GPA for admission in to the teacher education program, admission in to the internship semester, recommendation for graduation, and recommendation for certification.
The overall GPA, professional studies GPA, and the teaching field GPA must be 2.75/4.0.
HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR GPA
The GPA is calculated through
the following formula:
GPA = Quality Points / hours Attempted
Quality Points are calculated using
the following formula:
Quality Points = Course Grade Conversion
points times Hours Attempted
The course grade is converted
based on the following:
Grade Conversion
A
4 points
B
3 points
C
2 points
D
1 point
F or I
no points
For example, a student earns an
‘A’ in a three hour course, a ‘C’ in a
four hour course, and a ‘F’ in a
two hour course the overall
GPA would be:
(1) Quality Points =
(4 x 3) + (2 x 4) + (0 x 2)= 20
(2) GPA = 20/9 = 2.22 *
* GPA is not rounded and is
truncated to two places past
the decimal for reporting purposes
.
